The Al-Hana Housing Development was designed to address Somalia’s affordable housing crisis by building 500 quality homes for families. We supplied 12,000 metric tons of standard Portland Cement and worked closely with the developer to optimize concrete mixes for different parts of the project.
Our technical team helped create custom concrete formulations for foundations, walls, and floors that maintained structural integrity while reducing material costs by 25%. This made quality housing more affordable for families.
The project included not just homes but also community infrastructure like a school, clinic, and market. We focused on using local materials and employing local workers, with 95% of materials sourced from Somali suppliers and 80% of the workforce being local.
The completed development now houses over 2,500 people in safe, quality homes. It has become a model for future affordable housing projects in Somalia and demonstrates that quality construction can be achieved cost-effectively.
