Community Education Program Delivers New Classrooms and Teacher Training

As part of Banadir Cement’s community development commitments, the company has completed a multi-phase education initiative focused on expanding access to quality learning.

The program delivered new classrooms, refurbished existing facilities, and supplied essential learning materials to schools in nearby communities. In addition to infrastructure improvements, the initiative funded teacher training workshops on modern pedagogy, classroom management, and inclusive education.

The program was designed in partnership with local education authorities and community leaders to ensure long-term sustainability, with a focus on measurable outcomes such as attendance, learning progress, and teacher retention. By investing in education, Banadir Cement aims to support local families, strengthen workforce readiness, and contribute to broader social and economic development.

  • Banadir University Teaching Hospital

    Banadir University Teaching Hospital

The Banadir University Teaching Hospital is a state-of-the-art medical facility that serves both as a hospital and a medical school. We supplied 8,500 metric tons of Rapid Hardening Cement (RHC) which allowed the construction team to work 30% faster than normal.

The hospital includes 300 beds, specialized medical departments, research laboratories, and training facilities for medical students. Our RHC was particularly important for the surgical suites and radiology departments, which required ultra-high-strength concrete.

The rapid hardening cement reduced concrete setting time by 50%, allowing formwork to be removed and reused much faster. This was crucial for meeting the tight construction timeline while maintaining the highest quality standards required for a medical facility.

The completed hospital now serves over 50,000 patients annually and trains 200 medical students each year. It has established Somalia as a regional center for medical education and created over 500 healthcare jobs.
